Do any of these sources of #caffeine ☕️surprise you? Many are surprised to learn that chocolate 🍫 contains caffeine! Consuming caffeine in #moderation can help increase alertness 💡, provide an #energy boost ⚡️during a long and busy day and help relieve #constipation. However, caffeine is not a good idea for everyone. For example, if you suffer from ibs, anxiety, are looking to work on recognizing your hunger/fullness signals or have trouble sleeping, it’s likely a good idea to avoid caffeine (or at least switch to half-caff — yes, I promise it’s a thing! Remember, nutrition does not have to be all-or-nothing!). Additionally, if you are a caffeine consumer, make sure you’re staying #hydrated by drinking plenty of non-caffeinated fluids as well!

Looking for a recipe for this week’s #mealprep? Spinach pesto is delicious and easy to prepare! Spinach is a great source of #iron and #vitaminK which promote wound healing and overall body functioning 💪🏻. Why not try combining it with fish, roasted vegetables or using it as a dip for your favorite raw vegetables?! I tried this pesto on top of flounder last week and it was delicious! 😋🐟

Let’s talk about balance ⚖️

There are only so many hours ⏰ in a day!
As individuals, we often try to stretch ourselves into a million pieces. Striking a balance between the things you love and the things you need can be challenging when life is busy. It can be difficult to balance taking care of your nutrition with the rest of your life. It is important to STOP 🛑 and allow yourself a second to THINK! 🤔

Take a second to remember your nutrition goals and ask yourself:
.
❓Why am I doing this?
❓Is this what I want?
❓Is this right for my body?
❓Am I taking care of myself?
.
Remember that whatever nutrition plan you’re following should feel in balance with your life. And, if you’re having a hard time fitting it all in, remember that not everything has to get done in one day. If you’re finding it hard to strike a balance between the things you love to do and the things you need to do, try scheduling designated times to do the things you love. 💕

Calories indicate the amount of energy you get from the food you eat. Both too much and too little energy may negatively impact your health. Striking the right energy balance is important to enable you to function and thrive. Who knew you needed calories to sleep?!

Every second of every day we are faced with tons of #thoughts 🤔. The ones we choose to allow in shape our realities. Take a moment to reflect and consider: Is this a helpful thought, or will it hinder my goals❓For example, if you are having negative body image thoughts, how can you challenge them❓If you are feeling like you will never have a handle on your nutrition, what can you say back to that❓ It is easy to forget that our thoughts do not define us. So let’s stop and take a second before we let that thought run wild!
